The food distribution industry is the second largest commercial sector in Canada with sales by retail members of the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors (CCGD) exceeding $71.8 billion in 2008. CCGD members employ more than 428,000 Canadians and represent over 85% of all grocery distribution sales in Canada.
