8.5 million Green Bags for Life sold
Nearly 8.5 million reusable Green Bags for Life have been sold since they were introduced to our customers in November 2006. New designs continue to generate renewed interest and increased usage. Sobeys program and commitment is unique because we replace any bag with a new one for free when a well-used bag has passed its useful life span. This is just one of the ways that we encourage our customers to use their bag every time they shop.
Sobeys Atlantic is the proud recipient of the 2007 Mobius Environmental Award for Waste Reduction Education. Created by the Resource Recovery Fund Board in Nova Scotia, the Mobius Environmental Awards recognize the achievements of Nova Scotia businesses and individuals who have helped make the province a leader in waste reduction initiatives. Sobeys was nominated for the award by the Pictou County Solid Waste Management Commission in recognition for the launch and ongoing promotion of the Green Bags for Life program.
