Robert G. C. Sobey

Current Activities: Rob G.C. Sobey is a corporate director. Mr. Sobey is a director of DHX Media Ltd., SeaFort Capital, Norvista Capital and Sobeys Inc. Mr. Sobey sits on the Queen’s School of Business Advisory Board, the Board of Governors of Dalhousie University, and the Tate Americas Foundation (Tate Museum UK). Mr. Sobey is Chairman of the Sobey Art Foundation and the D&R Sobey Scholarship Program. He is a Honourary Lifetime Governor of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (AGNS) and is Honourary Colonel of the 1st Field Artillery Regiment (RCA).

Past Activities: Mr. Sobey was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Lawton’s Drug Stores Limited until his retirement in January 2014 after 25 years of service. Mr. Sobey previously served as Chairman of the Nova Scotia Community College, Chairman of the AGNS, Vice Chairman of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and was a member of the Board of Trustees of Queen’s University for eight years.

Other Information: Mr. Sobey holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Queen’s University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Babson Graduate School. Mr. Sobey earned the ICD.D designation in 2009.
