When considering sustainability we are fortunate to be actively engaged with a number of partners across Canada and around the world to accelerate sustainability in all aspects of Sobeys business. Sobeys meets regularly with its partners to identify areas we can collaborate on to make progress on our collective sustainability initiatives. Sobeys proactively seeks out partnerships and innovative solutions to enhance social and environmental welfare in the communities we proudly serve.

THE CANADIAN ROUNDTABLE FOR SUSTAINABLE BEEF (CRSB)

The Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB) is a National multistakeholder initiative developed to advance sustainability efforts within the cattle industry. Sobeys Inc. aligns with the CRSB’s vision that the Canadian beef industry be recognized globally as an environmentally sound, socially responsible and economically viable supply chain. As an associate member, Sobeys Inc. collaborates with stakeholders such as Cargill, World Animal Protection, and the National Cattle Feeders Association in discussions on Canadian beef sustainability.

NATIONAL FARM ANIMAL CARE COUNCIL (NFACC)

NFACC builds processes that facilitate a national and inclusive approach to advance farm animal care. As an associate member, Sobeys engages with producers, veterinarians, researchers, manufacturers and industry organizations in a science-based process designed to standardize animal codes of practice and care assessment.

THE CONSUMER GOODS FORUM (CGF)

A global trade and industry association representing the world’s leading consumer goods retailers and manufacturers, the CGF has a mandate on developing common positions on key issues affecting the consumer goods industry, including sustainability.

FOOD MARKETING INSTITUTE (FMI)

Advocating on behalf of the food retail industry, FMI is an American-based organization that offers resources and benefits to more than 1,225 food retail and wholesale member companies in the United States and worldwide. FMI offers programs in public affairs, food safety, research, education and industry relations. Sobeys is a member of the FMI Sustainability Executive Committee.

ROUNDTABLE ON SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL (RSPO)

The RSPO is an association composed of various organizations from different sectors of the palm oil industry, including palm producers and processors, manufacturers, retailers, investors, and NGOs. The objective of the RSPO is to promote the growth and use of sustainable palm oil through credible global standards and the engagement of stakeholders.

RETAIL COUNCIL OF CANADA (RCC)

RCC is a not-for-profit, industry-funded association representing more than 45,000 store fronts of all retail formats across Canada, including department, specialty, discount, and independent stores, and online merchants. Sobeys is an active member of the RCC Sustainability Steering Committee.

NATIONAL ZERO WASTE COUNCIL (NZWC)

The National Zero Waste Council is a leadership initiative bringing together governments, businesses and non-government organizations to advance waste prevention in Canada. As a member, Sobeys engages with likeminded industry leaders to collaboratively discuss waste prevention and
