Empire receives inquiries based on a number of different subjects. In order to answer inquiries efficiently, we have developed a response system to ensure inquiries are directed to the right place and managed for the appropriate response.
The Office of the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary review all letters and e-mails. These may be addressed to the Board or to its individual Directors. For financial disclosures, internal accounting, or auditing matters, the inquiry goes to the Audit Committee.
Other matters may be directed to the Board Chair or other committees of the Board, where appropriate. While the Board oversees management, it is applicable members who manage day-to-day operations. Additionally, the Office of the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary may choose to halt inquiries without relevancy to Empire, Sobeys Inc., or the Board. This is done at its own discretion.
The Office of the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary retains a log of all correspondence. Directors are able to request copies of this log and the correspondence received.
